A Veterinarian Book Review:
By Helena Crawford
Today I am going to be showing all of you future vets/animal lovers a two-book series that I really like. They are written by Jeff Wells, DVM (which stands for Doctor of Veterinary Medicine). The two books are called All My Patient Have Tales, and All My Patients Kick And Bite. Jeff Wells works with all sorts of animals, from horses to cats. I even read a story where he worked with circus animals!
Jeff Wells tells these tales of his work with humor, and they definitely make me laugh. They range from stories about him getting utterly embarrassed to him dealing with trouble clients, and having to hold his tongue, no matter how rude they are being. Another reason I like the books, is because they are realistic, and they teach me what being a vet will be like, hardships and all. I love the stories, and I think that any animal lover will be with me on that.

Another book like this is Tales of an African Vet, about a veterinarian in Africa; who also tells stories of his practice. I have been reading this book, and I like it so far. It is by Dr. Roy Aronson.

I hope that you have found this informative, and you get your next great read from it!
A Book Review For Nature Girls:
I am going to review a book that I read not long ago, called Girls Who Looked Under Rocks: The Lives of Six Pioneering Naturalists.
As you can guess, it is about women nature lovers. From apes to butterflies, these women wanted to learn about, and sometimes help, the animals they loved. I liked reading about the different ladies, and what happened to each of them to make them who they were.

That is all for now!
A Veterinarian’s Story Book Review:
This book is called Unlikely Companions The Adventures of An Exotic Animal Doctor
I found this story very entertaining, captivating, and even suspenseful. Here is my review for it:
Laurie Hess, an exotic animal veterinarian is facing difficulties at work due to sugar gliders continuing to get sick and die, no matter what she tries. Similar deaths are happening all over the United States. When she tries to unravel the mystery, she finds that all the clues lead back to one sugar glider farm-but on an examination of the farm, it appears as though it is treating the sugar gliders with great care… right? Meanwhile, she is also having problems at home as she tries to manage her busy schedule and her family life at the same time. Can she make everyone happy AND solve the mystery of the sugar gliders?

Adventures of the Horse Doctor’s Husband:
I love to read veterinarian stories, and this one has joined my list of favorites. It is from the perspective of a horse vet’s husband, and it’s hilarious. From chasing birds, cats, and dogs through the house to assisting his wife at her job, it isn’t always easy being a horse vet’s husband!

Also, here is a link to buy the second book that he wrote, which I have not yet read, but I am guessing that it is good:
If you like these books, they have a podcast too, which I recommend listening to. It is called ‘Straight from the Horse Doctor’s Mouth’, and it is a wonderful resource for future horse vets.
