Why Are Dachshunds Shaped Like Hot Dogs?

Maybe this seems like a strange question, but I found the answer very interesting! Apparently, they were BRED to have weird-looking (but cute) long bodies, ears, and snouts, and short legs. They were bred this way to help hunt badgers. They could better chase badgers out of dens if they had sausage bodies and short legs. Their long snouts have a purpose, too. They needed to be able to sniff out those badgers!
